Crafted in Silk
Louan’s fabric story begins with silk.
Our founder was raised in a town known for its silk production where silk was never reserved for ceremony or special occasions, it was simply part of everyday life. A blouse worn at home, a relaxed skirt on warm afternoons. Pieces chosen for comfort, not spectacle.
Silk was never distant.
It was familiar.
Over time, silk became synonymous with luxury, elevated into evening wear and statement dressing. Yet its true nature has always been more intimate: a natural protein fibre, fluid and luminous, designed to move with the body and respond to touch.
At Louan, silk remains our foundation, not as a symbol of extravagance but as a reference point. With our in-house fabric development facility in Suzhou, one of the world’s most established silk regions, we have spent over a decade refining our understanding of silk weaving, finishing, and construction. This expertise informs everything we create, from pure silks to silk blends and other breathable, fluid fibres such as viscose.
What defines Louan is not a single material, but a sensibility. We are drawn to fabrics that drape naturally, breathe easily and respond to movement. Whether working with silk, silk blends, or complementary fibres, our approach remains the same: to enhance the fabric’s inherent qualities rather than overpower them.
Relaxed silhouettes. Soft structure. Everyday forms elevated through touch and sensation.
Our philosophy is to return refined materials to daily life, allowing them to be mixed, layered, and lived in. Luxury, in its most natural state.
